The Early Days

In 1780, Irish Whiskey distillation started at Bow Street in Dublin, Ireland, led by John Jameson. A couple of decades later, his son, John Jameson II, took over the family business and built it up for 41 years. Following this, many members of the Jameson family have taken control of the business, with it being passed from generation to generation. At the turn of the 19th century, Jameson’s was known as the second biggest producer in Ireland and one of the largest globally, producing over a million gallons per year. Dublin was the epicentre of world Whiskey production.

Over the years, Jameson continued to grow, despite impactful historical events such as the Irish War of Independence and the introduction of prohibition in the United States. Today, the original Jameson Distillery in Bow Street is a popular museum, offering tours and tastings. The Jameson brand is famous all over the world, and has even sparked and created a flourishing Irish Whiskey tourism industry.

The Production Process

The Irish Whiskey Jameson is produced from a blend of grain whiskey with single pot still whiskey. This is all sourced from inside a fifty-mile radius surrounding the distillery in Cork. The barley is subsequently dried in a closed kiln powered by natural gas. This is unlike the traditional method used in certain Scotch whisky distilleries, which fire a kiln with peat.

Jameson Whiskey for Different Tastes

There are many different tastes of Jameson Irish Whiskey, from original flavours to more complex and deep tastes. The Original is the ultimate whiskey and it’s perfect for all occasions with a smooth taste that is simply unmatchable.
